Get Funded or Private care?
If you are over 65 and need help at home the Australian Government could help cover the cost of your support services through an aged care funding programme. In certain circumstances, you may only be eligible for private care.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme
This option is ideal for individuals who are managing well at home but would benefit from a bit of extra support to stay organised, safe, and comfortable. Whether it’s help with household tasks, meal preparation, or simply having a friendly companion to check in, support can be tailored to suit your routine. It can be arranged for a short time or provided on an ongoing basis, depending on what feels right for you.
Support at Home
The Support at Home program is designed to create a simpler and fairer aged care system for older people living at home. It will offer eight funding levels, with higher levels providing up to $78,000 per year for those with greater care needs. Budgets will be allocated quarterly and include options for short-term support. Services will come from a defined list, and provider management fees will be capped at 10% to ensure more funding goes directly to care.
private care
Private care gives you the flexibility to access additional support on your own terms, beyond what is included in your Support At Home Package or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. You can choose short-term assistance during times when you need a little extra help or arrange ongoing services that fit comfortably into your daily routines. Everything is tailored to what works best for you and your lifestyle.
